When you’re out hunting, you need to stay stealth at all times in order to increase the chances of taking the perfect shot. That’s why we’ll take you through the specifics of the best deer blinds on the market, letting you know how to choose the right one.

We’ll also make a top of our favorite products, and explain why we think each of them would be a great choice.  Hopefully, that will help you decide on the ideal piece of equipment for you.

How to Get The Top Blinds

Without further ado, the main features to take into account when searching for deer blinds are:

Portability

Since you’re going hunting, you should look for compact and lightweight products, that are easy to pack and carry. Portability is particularly important if you’re hunting alone, otherwise, you can share your luggage with at least another person.

Deer blind

We also appreciate it when blinds come with an included carry bag and stuff sack, for portability and storage reasons.

Capacity

Portable shouldn’t mean small after you set the blind up. Once you install it, it should be large enough so it can fit the advertised number of people. Check the inside footprint and the specs regarding dimensions too, in case you need to carry extra equipment so you can ensure you really have enough room.

Shooting options

Versatile blinds are the best because they give you more shooting options. So look for blinds that:

  • Are appropriate for both bow and rifle hunting.
  • Are for more than just one person.
  • Have a big field of view.
  • Have replaceable shoot-through mesh.
  • Have at least one gun port.
  • Have wide windows, on more than just one side.
  • Allow you to shoot while standing.
  • Allow you to shoot when sitting. Some even include attached chairs for this purpose.

Construction

The construction has to be sturdy, so be sure to check:

  • The quality of the materials used. Aluminum, metal, carbon and fiberglass are usually the best for poles and hubs, while canvas and polyester are great for the exterior.
  • The overall resistance of your blind, which should be water-repellent, windproof and insulating.

Set up

Since you don’t need to lose time unnecessarily on the field, make sure that the setup is easy and quick. Also, check if you have the right tools for that, or if they’re included in the package.

Camouflage

Since you’re hunting and you don’t want to be spotted by the deer, choose blinds that can camouflage you:

  • Visually with a good, 3-D pattern that resembles the environment it’s installed in.
  • Acoustically, with materials that don’t squeak and zipperless windows that can’t be heard.

Entryways:

Your blind should have a large door, so you can get in and out fast. That will make you less likely to be seen and heard, plus it entails less effort on your part when you have a lot of equipment or when you’re hunting with more people.

Quality Hubs to Choose from

After taking all these characteristics into account, let’s look at some of the best blinds on the market and see what makes them so appreciated.

Big Cat 350 Hub Blind

Big Cat 350 Hub Blind

Weight: 18.6 pounds

Dimensions: 90 x 90 x 80 inches

Specifications: Backwoods Camo color; 70 x 70 inches footprint; 3 people max; many shooting options; rugged design; easy setup

Best Use: group hunting

Description: This 4.6 stars and $165.02 Big Cat 350 Hub Blind has a number of important advantages, starting with its capacious inner room. Although it weighs very little and can be packed in a compact package, when you set it up it becomes huge.

So apart from the 80 inches height and 90 inches hub to hub distance, the footprint is 70 x 70 inches so you have a lot of space for storing your gear. These big dimensions will render this blind a perfect addition for three people.

Besides, even if you decide to hunt alone, you don’t have to worry about a lack of space, considering that 80 inches is tall enough so you can stand. That makes for easy shots while standing.

But apart from the option of shooting like this, you can also take the perfect shot through the windows, which are low profile. The mesh you can shoot through has a camo pattern, and it’s replaceable so you can even use broadheads. And if you own a shotgun, there are two ports you can use for gun hunting.

We love the design of this blind because it’s a Backwoods Camo pattern that creates a realistic three-dimensional appearance of leaves and branches. That way, deer or other wild animals are less likely to notice you.

But the design is also based on a reliable, strong construction. The framework is sturdy, and the five hubs are rugged. The poles are thick and stiff, and the windows don’t have any zippers so they’re pretty silent. All this enables you to easily set up the blind, so you don’t lose any precious hunting time.

Primos Hunting The Club Ground Blind

Primos Hunting The Club Ground Blind

Weight: 29.5 pounds

Dimensions: 8 x 8 x 49 inches

Specifications: XXL; 2 bowhunters max; 2+ shotgun hunters; trademarked materials; large windows; ability to camouflage

Best Use: group hunting

Description: This 3.8 stars and $176.48 Primos Hunting The Club Ground Blind has reduced dimensions, that make for a compact package which proves a space-saving piece of equipment.

That, along with its reduced total weight, render the Primo blind a highly portable item which is easy both to carry during your hunting trip, as well as store at home.

When you set it up, though, you’ll discover it’s also a capacious blind. The 58 x 58 inches base is large enough to fit all your equipment, and the 77 inches height is enough so you can comfortably stand.

You can even shoot while standing if that feels more comfortable, especially if you’re hunting with a bow.  Its dimensions are appropriate for a maximum of two bowhunters who stand, but this blind can accommodate even more rifle hunters.

The quality materials used are another plus. It’s also worth noting that this blind has been thoroughly tested so it can withstand rough environments. The fabrics used are all trademarked, so you can rely on the Primos technological advancements in regards to durability and effectiveness.

The outer fabric is called DuraMatte™, and it’s soft and quiet. The SS Hook™ windows are silent too, and you can secure them fast. Plus, they can be opened wide in order to scout your surroundings better.

We also love the camouflaging ability of this blind. Apart from the great Ground Swat™ Grey pattern that hides you really well, it also has some brush holders on top of the roof.

Adding some leaves and branches on the field makes this blind all the more realistic, and impossible to spot. The base flaps won’t let any light or odor pass through them, so you’re covered from that point of view too.

Evolved Ingenuity 1RX2S010 Hunting Doghouse

Evolved Ingenuity 1RX2S010 Hunting Doghouse Ground Blind

Weight: 12.8 pounds

Dimensions: 22 x 3.4 x 21.6 inches

Specifications: water-resistant; carry bag included; polyester; mesh windows; Realtree Xtra Camo; accommodates firearms and bows; ground steel

Best Use: one-person hunt

Description: This 4.2 stars and $69.99 Evolved Ingenuity 1RX2S010 Hunting Doghouse Ground Blind is a really affordable piece of equipment, and it’s worth getting if you’re planning to use it on solo hunting trips.

That’s because it’s not big enough to accommodate more than one hunter, even if the shooting width is 60 inches.

On the other hand, since it only weighs less than 13 pounds, it shouldn’t be much of a burden to carry on your own. So it definitely passes our portability requirement, more so since the packed dimensions render it compact too.

The height is 66 inches, which is big enough to be standing inside. Therefore you can move freely, but you can also shoot when standing if you’re bowhunting. Even if you’re not, this blind can be used by a shotgun hunter too, with the same ability to provide the needed camouflage. The shoot-through mesh is another definite plus when the shooting issue arises.

The Realtree Xtra Camo design is quite realistic, and we love its look in the woods. It has a 3D feel to it, and no wild animal will spot your hub. The ground steel spring construction makes this blind pretty sturdy, as does its 100% polyester manufacturing.

This is a light, yet durable fabric that accounts for the water-resistant properties of this blind. Keep in mind that doesn’t make it waterproof, though, so you may have to waterproof it yourself if that’s what you want.

Ameristep Deluxe 2 Person Tent Chair

Ameristep Deluxe 2 Person Tent Chair Hunting Blind

Weight: 17.7 pounds

Dimensions: 61 x 52 x 20 inches

Specifications: water resistant; Realtree Xtra; capacious; large front; 2 side windows; attached chair

Best Use: 2 shotgun hunters

Description: This 4 stars and $101.94 Ameristep Deluxe 2 Person Tent Chair Hunting Blind has a large interior of 116 x 14 x 38 inches, so you know it’s the right fit for two people who are out hunting together.

It weighs just below 18 pounds, so it’s easy to carry in your backpack, and it’s even better if you and your hunting partner share your hunting gear.

The reduced dimensions, when packed, contribute to its portability, as does the included carrying case that resembles a backpack.

We like that it also has a large front so you can get easy access in and out, as well as scout your surroundings fast. Plus, this front is perfect  for two shotgun hunters who fit well side by side. You can also scout better thanks to the side windows, which give you a larger angle of view.

These side windows can be quickly open and closed with zippers, but that can account for some noise that can attract attention. The great Realtree Xtra pattern will keep you stealth, though.

The attached chair is another great feat since you can shoot comfortably, and it doesn’t require any setup, so you don’t waste any time on the field. In fact, the whole thing is easy to put up and take down, and it’s made from good materials that keep you protected from both the rain and cold.

Since it’s water resistant, you can easily hunt in the early and late season too, and you’ll remain perfectly insulated inside.

Primos Double Bull Deluxe Ground Blind

Primos Double Bull Deluxe Ground Blind

Weight: 30 pounds

Dimensions: 46 x 8.5 x 8.5 inches

Specifications: carry bag included; 77 inches hub to hub; 60 x 60 inches floor; zipperless double-wide door; 180˚ front window; Truth Camo; water-repellant

Best Use: 2-person hunt

Description:  This 4.4 stars and $305.58 Primos Double Bull Deluxe Ground Blind is a good sturdy blind that will hold you for ages and that’s its main feat. It’s a portable piece of equipment since it has reduced dimensions and a low weight, so you can pack it in its carry bag with no problems.

That alone will save you enough space in your luggage if you’re planning to go hunting alone.

Despite the small dimensions when packed, the hub to hub length is 77 inches and the floor space is 60 x 60 inches, and a tall man can easily stand inside it.

The Double Bull was constructed with comfort as a top priority, a thing proven not only by its spacious interior but also by the double-wide door. This is way better in our opinion than getting in and out through the front window. Plus, it doesn’t have any zippers so it’s really silent.

The front window is also large, providing an 180˚ view in the front, so you can keep your eyes on the game without having to move too much.

The window closures also provide further camouflage noise-wise since they have quiet slide closures. The Truth Camo pattern is also a great feature as it does its job well, keeping you out of sight.

We love the construction and materials too.

The new hubs really take out any effort from setting this blind up. In fact, the hub system is patented so you’re sure that Primos invested in this solid technology. Plus, the blind is made from great fabrics that make it durable, and the outer canvas is also water-resistant.

Ameristep Care Taker Hub Hunting Blind, Realtree Xtra

Ameristep Care Taker Hub Hunting Blind, Realtree Xtra

Weight: 16.8 pounds

Dimensions: 99 x 20 x 18 inches

Specifications: 66 inches height; 66 inches shooting width; 360˚ view; Realtree Xtra pattern; water-resistant; wind-resistant; insect-resistant; shoot-through mesh; Durashell Plus exterior; Velcro windows

Best Use: 2-person hunt

Description: This 4.2 stars and $99.99 Ameristep Care Taker Hub Hunting Blind, Realtree Xtra is an affordable option for two hunters, whether you’re rifle or bowhunters. The portability test is passed with flying colors, considering it’s neither too heavy nor too bulky for its price.

Besides, when you set it up, you’ll find its height is 66 inches, enough for an adult man to stand up leisurely.

The 69 inches shooting width is quite accommodating too, but you can get a 360˚ view if you open all the windows on its three sides. There’s also a large door for quick access in and out, and this side doesn’t have any additional windows, but that would have been unnecessary from our perspective.

The Realtree Xtra pattern is an advantage when it comes to design since it’s one of the best camouflage patterns to date.

But that’s not the best attribute of its construction: apart from being stealth, wind, and water-repellent, it’s furthermore insect-resistant, which is a real positive on the field.

Additionally, you can easily set it up and enjoy its durable, stealth construction. The walls are blacked out, the interior windows are buttoned and looped which makes them quiet and easy to put up and down.

The outer windows are Velcro, and they have a shoot-through mesh, with a gun port. Not to mention the exterior is manufactured from Durashell Plus, which is a strong, reliable fabric.

Barronett Blinds Pentagon

Barronett Blinds Pentagon

Weight: 20 pounds

Dimensions: 96 x 96 x 72 inches

Specifications: 5 sides; 9 windows; 70% more space; 41.5 ft² footprint; BLOODTRAIL Backwoods camo; zipperless windows; shoot-through mesh; fiberglass poles; metal hubs

Best Use: group hunts

Description: This 4.5 stars and $175.04 Barronett Blinds Pentagon is one of the most innovative hunting products on the market, seeing as it’s the first blind that has five sides.

That alone entails more shooting options since it has windows on every side and that gives you a wide range of shooting angles. In fact, its huge nine windows will increase your field of view considerably so you’ll spot your quarry really fast.

Moreover, this sort of design will allow for extra room inside. Since the usual blinds only have four sides, this hub will provide 70% more space inside, so you can use its 41.5 ft² footprints as you like: either by taking more people with you or by carrying additional equipment.

Or both. The 96 inches hub to corner distance is enough to accommodate approximately three people, and the 72 inches height is good enough for you to be shooting while standing.

We also love the Pentagon’s color, which is a BLOODTRAIL Backwoods camo that provides life-like nature patterns to conceal you better. And since the windows don’t have any zippers and don’t make any noise when opening or closing them, they help camouflage you too.

The windows are really a great plus because they’re large and low-dipping, giving you a huge perspective all around. Plus, the interior windows all have a shoot-through mesh which can easily be replaced for bowhunting. But you can also use a rifle to hunt since there are gun ports for each of the three middle windows.

And we like the ruggedness of this blind too. It has poles made from fiberglass and hubs made from metal, which renders its entire framework strong, apart from being easily installed. There are also ground stakes and ropes inside the package, so you can be safe from the elements when it’s extremely windy.

The Blind You Chose

After looking at all these items, you can see why we like them. They’re all portable, yet accommodating, versatile and efficient on the field. However, we imagine you won’t get them all, so tell us which one caught your eye.

These blinds are very practical and useful. The bigger ones especially, cause I’m a tall guy. I’d like to know if someone had the experience concerning how long the color lasts in the sun. I’ve read different reviews so I don’t know what to think. There’s a lot of sun here, it burns everything. I don’t want to stand out with faded colors.

Most of these deer blinds are compatible with you as these options are inclined towards tandem and group hunters, thus, you are guaranteed that the units are spacious.

I own 3 deer blinds, one of which is Ameristep Care Taker. It’s a nice blind for that price. I use it whenever I find it suitable. It has a lot of space and it’s relatively easy to set up and take down. Its construction is lighter than the construction of the other 2 blinds, so I have to be careful when to use it. Usually I don’t use it if there’s a heavy snow or rain forecast. When it’s windy I use ropes to secure it. So far the roof once collapsed due to heavy snow, but nothing was damaged.

    • Shawn Harrison

The good thing about your choices is their proven durability. Some deer blinds appear to be too brittle, after a few months. The Ameristep is phenomenal and I must say this is one of the more reasonable options for deer hunters searching for deer blinds.
