The market is filled with all sorts of bow hunting gear, which can leave even the most experienced hunters a bit confused. So we’re here to help you make your decision and get only the things you actually need.

We’ll start you off with a few advice on how to choose your equipment, after which we’ll show you which products we’ve found to be most appealing.

Bring your hunting gear

The main things to take into account regard quality and utility, so you’ll have to make informed investments or otherwise you may lose a lot of money in the long term.

How to Choose

When it comes to choosing, take into account things like:

  • Materials: Quality and durability should be your main concerns at all times. But since you’re bow hunting, you may also need equipment that’s resistant to water, wind, cold, dust, moisture, and various potential on-field damages. Basically, choose the materials that keep you safe and protected from the elements, while also guaranteeing a strong final product.
  • Your strength: If you need a bow or extras for your weapon, you should also take into account your level of strength. Don’t get something that increases the draw weight or draws length too much, maybe you won’t be able to handle these tools.
Your fitness level also dictates the level of portability, and therefore how compact or heavy your equipment should be. If you’re walking long distances or standing for hours at a time, something light may be more appropriate, even if you’re fit.
  • The things you need: This may seem redundant, but it’s not. Sometimes we get influenced by all sorts of included perks or discounts, so we forget what we actually need on the field.
For instance, you think you’re getting a sweet deal when buying a bow with all the included accessories, forgetting you actually don’t need them at all or that you already have most of them.
  • Besides, remember that target practice and hunting albeit similar activities, still require different equipment.
  • Your skill level: Some gizmos are better for newbies, while some are meant for experts. Just make sure you’re able to handle the things you buy, and that they actually help you become a better hunter instead of inconveniencing you.
  • Your purpose: When and where you’re hunting, as well as what sort of techniques you’re using should all be taken into account. For instance, you don’t need a blind if you’re treestanding, and you don’t need a stand if you’re hunting in an open field.
So among the things you’re most likely to need on your bow hunting trip, you’ll find:

    • Appropriate clothing and footwear.
    • Arrows.
    • Backpack.
    • Binoculars.
    • Blind.
    • Broadheads.
    • Camera
    • Communication devices.
    • Peep.
    • Quiver.
    • Rest.
    • Sight.
    • Silencer.
    • Stabilizer.
    • Weapon.
    • Wrist sling.

What to Choose from

With all that in mind, we’ve selected some of the best products to look at:

The axle to axle length is 15.1 inches at rest, and 11.1 inches at the draw. That accounts for high-speed shots, which are also smooth and quite precise.

Plus, you’ll be able to handle this crossbow even in more cramped up spaces with absolutely no worries since the safety will always be on except when you’re actually shooting. Both my wife and I are avid hunters and she recently purchased the Eglemall men’s hunting jacket for herself. Unfortunately, however, she seems to have overestimated her size as the jacket she received was too big, it did, however, fit me.

Typically when in the market for new camo products, I tend to stick to brand names that I’m familiar with, admittedly, I’d never heard of Eglemall before ordering this, but I really do love it.

One of the main things I look for in a new jacket is the number of pockets it has, when carrying a compass, calls, ammo, gloves and knife etc, you can never have too many, the Eglemall, has just the right amount for me.

As far as warmth goes, this is a typical soft shell jacket providing more than enough insulation, however, I’d definitely recommend layering appropriately for your conditions.

Personally, I would definitely recommend this jacket for hunters and non-hunters alike.

While searching for established brands will always be a great move especially for hunting gears, it is not a bad choice to search for other less-popular brands. By doing this, you might actually find a new brand favorite that suits your fancy.

I’ve been a bowhunter since I was 14-years-old and I am now in my late thirties, in that time I’ve used countless sights, but the Field Logic IQ 7 Pin Sight beats them all. As soon as I received it and had the opportunity to flick through the instructions, I set up the 20-yard pin and in less than two hours of practice, I was hitting dimes at 20 yards. A truly phenomenal sight and a must have for any bowman.

    • Dennis Owens

Oh this sight is amazing. Very clear and accurate, not to mention durable and does not falter when exposed to extreme temperatures especially in cold winters. A great product and this is something I’d recommend.

  • George Miller

Timber Hawk Killshot backpack is just the one I needed for bow hunting. Although a bit heavy for me, it is comfortable for carrying long distance. It perfectly fits on my back. Its quality and design are first rate, whereas the price is almost half of the other similar backpacks. I pack all the necessary equipment in it and there’s always room to put more. All in all, a great backpack.

    • Dennis Owens

I agree that this is one of the heavier backpack options around. However, it provides ample back support, and is made of premium materials which I think are worth the tradeoff. It has enough space to carry most of the things that you need, so I’d say you made a great decision to get it.
